“August Ice – The 2011 Senior Prom”
Conroe, TX – Summer heat getting to be too much? Cool off by attending August Ice, The Friendship Center’s 9th annual Senior Prom. The event will be held on Thursday, August 25th and invites senior adults from Montgomery County to enjoy a festive winter-themed evening complete with hors d'œuvres, a live band, a winterscape photo booth, and dancing.
“The Senior Prom is much anticipated event that welcomes senior adults from across the county for a gathering designed according to their taste. The Moonglow Orchestra plays a variety of hit music from the 1940s through the 1970s and there is a large dance floor to accommodate the many attendees and plenty of seating for those who enjoy listening to the music” said Anna Vidaurri, Executive Director of The Friendship Center.
Initial sponsors of the event are The Woodlands Healthcare Center, The Conservatory at Alden Bridge, Sherriff Tommy Gage, and The Kenny Speight Agency. A limited number of additional sponsorships are still available to help provide this one-of-a-kind event for seniors in our community.
This year’s event will be held at The Lone Star Convention Center and doors will open at 6:30pm with the band beginning at 7:00pm. The annual award for Senior Prom King and Queen will also be held showcasing contestants from each of The Friendship Center’s six locations. Tickets can be purchased for $10 each at any of the six Friendship Center locations in Conroe, The Woodlands, Magnolia, Montgomery, Willis and New Caney, or by calling 936-756-5828, ext. 34.
The Friendship Center is a United Way agency funded in part by the Community Development Block Grant Program of Montgomery County. Core services include transportation, Meals-On-Wheels, senior dining, educational and recreational programs, counseling and case management.
